- Gratuities: Tipping is at your discretion, if your PH and staff worked hard for you, feel free to tip what you feel comfortable with, we recommend that you consult with the outfitter/professional hunter on this. Having small bills are handy to have
- All foreign clients are required by South African Reserve Bank Legislation to pay in foreign currency
- 15% Value added Tax is charged on all items except trophies harvested for export. This tax is charged on animals wounded and lost, please rest assured that every possible effort will be made to recover a wounded animal
- All prices are quoted at current exchange rates and are subject to change. It may be necessary to make minor adjustments as a result of unforeseen excessive exchange rate fluctuations
- Notify your credit card company that you will be traveling to South Africa, debit cards require prior authorization, which should be done before traveling
- Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted throughout South Africa.
- The currency in South Africa is Rand (R) and you do not need to exchange your US dollars.

Taxidermy
-
Dip & Ship or Taxidermy will be determined by the size & weight of the crate
-
We recommend the services of Splitting Image Taxidermy www.splittingimagetaxidermy.co.za
- The team at Splitting Image Taxidermy in South Africa, together with the North American service providers, can offer a global standard of quality and service.
- They offer various payment options to suit your budget.
- They will manage the full logistical process, as they have a team of freight forwarders and clearing agents globally, and have simplified the process of getting your valued trophies to you
-
If you do make use of existing taxidermy, we will gladly arrange that your trophies get to your preferred taxidermy
-
Each hunter must complete his own PH Register with the outfitter to be able to get the trophies exported in his / her own crate. It is illegal according to US Law to combine shipments
-
It typically takes 6-8 months after the conclusion of your safari to get your trophies ready to leave the country, if all relevant payments are made in time towards the taxidermist
Bowhunting
- Other than a slight adjustment in shot placement, bow hunting in Africa is not much different from any other bowhunting adventure you have embarked on.
- Ensure that you are accurately & reliably able to shoot a 20x20cm target at 30m for blind hunting, and at least at 50m if you plan on stalking with a bow. African game has rightfully earned their reputation for being extremely tough, and as such we recommend you practice with the heaviest draw you can operate.
- No bowhunting of pachyderms are allowed in South Africa, these hunts will be conducted in Mozambique
For Buffalo:
Bowhunting requirements:
- Bow & arrow combination must generate a minimum of 80 ft/lbs kinetic energy. Minimum draw mass of 80 pounds
- The arrow must have a minimum weight of 800 grain
- A single forged broad head with two cutting edges starting at the tip, or with loose, double-bladed broadheads with a carbon/steel ferrule with a minimum cutting edge of 28 mm (1,1″), must be used.
